This is a great opportunity for a DevOps Engineer who wants to join a small, stable, technically capable team and make a visible impact across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, platform reliability and developer experience.
The company delivers digital platforms, websites, APIs, hosting and technical support for long-term clients across transport, government, HR and professional services. Their larger client environments are predominantly AWS-based, with plenty of upcoming work around infrastructure modernisation, deployment automation and proactive platform improvement.
This role requires two days per week in the Glasgow City Centre office. Candidates must live within approximately one hour’s commute of Central Glasgow. Applications from candidates outside this commuting requirement cannot be considered.
Why the role exists:
The business already has strong DevOps capability internally, but much of it currently sits with senior technical leadership. They now have enough cloud, infrastructure and automation work to justify a dedicated DevOps Engineer who can take ownership, improve systems and free up senior technical people to support the wider team.
You’ll be working on:
- AWS infrastructure across major client platform
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Linux-based environments
- Docker and Lando-based workflows
- Drupal/PHP deployment processes
- Monitoring, logging, alerting and platform reliability
- Developer experience and environment parity
- Infrastructure upgrades, including Amazon Linux 2023 migration work
- Proxmox and internal systems support
What they’re looking for:
- Strong AWS experience
- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience
- GitLab CI/CD experience
- Linux administration skills
- Understanding of LAMP/PHP application environment
- Scripting experience with Bash, Python or Perl
- A collaborative mindset and interest in improving developer workflows
You don’t need to know every tool inside out. The team already has deep knowledge of the estate and will support onboarding but you’ll need the ability, curiosity and confidence to take ownership as you get up to speed.
