Job Title:

Devops Engineer

Location:

Glasgow

Work Type:

Full Time

Sector:

Software Engineering & Development

Date Published:

19-May-2026

Tech Pair are working with a long-established, employee-owned digital agency in Glasgow who are creating a dedicated DevOps role for the first time as the business continues to grow.

This is a great opportunity for a DevOps Engineer who wants to join a small, stable, technically capable team and make a visible impact across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, automation, platform reliability and developer experience.

The company delivers digital platforms, websites, APIs, hosting and technical support for long-term clients across transport, government, HR and professional services. Their larger client environments are predominantly AWS-based, with plenty of upcoming work around infrastructure modernisation, deployment automation and proactive platform improvement.

This role requires two days per week in the Glasgow City Centre office. Candidates must live within approximately one hour’s commute of Central Glasgow. Applications from candidates outside this commuting requirement cannot be considered.

Why the role exists:
The business already has strong DevOps capability internally, but much of it currently sits with senior technical leadership. They now have enough cloud, infrastructure and automation work to justify a dedicated DevOps Engineer who can take ownership, improve systems and free up senior technical people to support the wider team.

You’ll be working on:
  • AWS infrastructure across major client platform
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Linux-based environments
  • Docker and Lando-based workflows
  • Drupal/PHP deployment processes
  • Monitoring, logging, alerting and platform reliability
  • Developer experience and environment parity
  • Infrastructure upgrades, including Amazon Linux 2023 migration work
  • Proxmox and internal systems support
The environment includes AWS, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora MySQL, Terraform, GitLab, Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, Docker, Lando, Bash, Python, Perl and Proxmox.

What they’re looking for:
  • Strong AWS experience
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as Code experience
  • GitLab CI/CD experience
  • Linux administration skills
  • Understanding of LAMP/PHP application environment
  • Scripting experience with Bash, Python or Perl
  • A collaborative mindset and interest in improving developer workflows

You don’t need to know every tool inside out. The team already has deep knowledge of the estate and will support onboarding but you’ll need the ability, curiosity and confidence to take ownership as you get up to speed.

Why this role stands out:
  • £40,000–62,000 OTE
  • Employee Ownership Trust participation
  • Annual tax-free EOT bonus potential
  • 25 days holiday including birthday leave + 9 Scottish public holidays
  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week in Glasgow city centre
  • A chance to shape DevOps maturity rather than simply maintain what already exists
  • Small, experienced team with low staff turnover and sensible working hours
